Hi Reader!
This is real life, and I'm not a 1950s tradwife. So how do you actually eat from-scratch every single day?
Two words: meal prep.
The first time I tried meal prepping was when I was pregnant with my first, and it completely changed how I approach cooking. If you’re trying to avoid those last-minute “we have nothing to eat” takeout nights (we’ve all been there), it makes a huge difference.
These days, there's almost always a meal or two in our freezer, and if I have an extra busy season coming up (like a move or postpartum) I make a point to stock it even more.
When plans change, the day gets hectic, or I just don’t feel like cooking, I’ve got an easy, healthy backup ready to go.
Meal Prep Tips
- Use glass storage containers that can go straight from freezer to the oven.
- Keep a few gallon freezer bags on hand for backup. As much as I hate plastic, I’d still choose a homemade meal in plastic over takeout (which is usually in plastic anyway).
- Skip the big prep days and just freeze leftovers here and there.
- If you need to stock up quickly, make double batches of all your food for a week.
- Don't forget about prepping snacks and breakfasts too!

This week in our home...
With a 3-year-old, 1-year-old, and a baby, snacks have mostly been fruit and cheese lately. But I finally got back into making more from scratch this week including multiple batches of brownies (new recipe coming soon!), yogurt, crackers, and I’ve got ingredients ready for my husband’s favorite date balls.
From my kitchen to yours,
